महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-112, verse-8

विभवश्चास्य सुमहानासीद्धनपतेरिव ।
एवं स तु धनं विद्वान्दानेनैव व्यशोधयत् ॥८॥
8. vibhavaścāsya sumahānāsīddhanapateriva ,
evaṁ sa tu dhanaṁ vidvāndānenaiva vyaśodhayat.
8. vibhavaḥ ca asya sumahān āsīt dhanapateḥ iva
evam saḥ tu dhanam vidvān dānenā eva vyaśodhayat
8. His prosperity was indeed very great, like that of Kubera, the lord of wealth. Therefore, being a wise man, he purified his wealth solely through acts of charity (dāna).
