महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-96, verse-11

तत आयव्ययौ दृष्ट्वा समौ सममतिर्द्विजः ।
सर्वथा प्राणिनां पीडामुपादानादमन्यत ॥११॥
11. tata āyavyayau dṛṣṭvā samau samamatirdvijaḥ ,
sarvathā prāṇināṁ pīḍāmupādānādamanyata.

sarvathā prāṇinām pīḍām upādānāt amanyata
11. Then, having observed the equal income and expenditure, the Brahmin with an impartial mind considered that the suffering of all living beings was entirely due to acquisition.
