महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-288, verse-15

सुमहत्यपराधेऽपि क्षान्तिः कार्या द्विजातिभिः ।
यथाशक्ति यथोत्साहं पूजा ग्राह्या द्विजोत्तम ॥१५॥
15. sumahatyaparādhe'pi kṣāntiḥ kāryā dvijātibhiḥ ,
yathāśakti yathotsāhaṁ pūjā grāhyā dvijottama.
15. su-mahati aparādhe api kṣāntiḥ kāryā dvijātibhiḥ
| yathāśakti yathā-utsāham pūjā grāhyā dvijottama
15. Even in the case of a very great offense, patience and forgiveness (kṣānti) should be shown by brahmins (dvijāti). O best of brahmins (dvijāti), honor (pūjā) should be accepted according to one's ability and enthusiasm.
