मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
अत्राप्युदाहरन्तीममितिहासं पुरातनम् ।
यथा क्रुद्धो हुतवहस्तपस्तप्तुं वनं गतः ॥६॥

Mārkaṇḍeya said: In this regard, they also relate this ancient narrative (itihāsa): how the enraged fire god (hutavaha) went to the forest to perform austerity (tapas).
