महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-207, verse-14

अग्निरुवाच ।
नष्टकीर्तिरहं लोके भवाञ्जातो हुताशनः ।
भवन्तमेव ज्ञास्यन्ति पावकं न तु मां जनाः ॥१४॥
14. agniruvāca ,
naṣṭakīrtirahaṁ loke bhavāñjāto hutāśanaḥ ,
bhavantameva jñāsyanti pāvakaṁ na tu māṁ janāḥ.
14. agniḥ uvāca naṣṭakīrtiḥ aham loke bhavān jātaḥ hutāśanaḥ
bhavantam eva jñāsyanti pāvakam na tu mām janāḥ
14. Agni said: "My fame in the world is lost. You have become the sacrificial fire (hutāśana). People will know you alone as the purifier (pāvaka), but not me."
