महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-109, verse-12

ते दर्शनमनिच्छन्तो देवाः शक्रपुरोगमाः ।
दुर्गं चक्रुरिमं देशं गिरिप्रत्यूहरूपकम् ॥१२॥
12. te darśanamanicchanto devāḥ śakrapurogamāḥ ,
durgaṁ cakrurimaṁ deśaṁ giripratyūharūpakam.

| durgam cakruḥ imam deśam giripratyūharūpakam
12. Those gods, led by Indra (Śakra), not wishing to be seen, made this region inaccessible, in the form of a mountain barrier.
