महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-64, verse-4

अर्धं पापस्य हरति पुरुषस्येह कर्मणः ।
कूपः प्रवृत्तपानीयः सुप्रवृत्तश्च नित्यशः ॥४॥
4. ardhaṁ pāpasya harati puruṣasyeha karmaṇaḥ ,
kūpaḥ pravṛttapānīyaḥ supravṛttaśca nityaśaḥ.
