महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-251, verse-5

अलब्ध्वा निपुणं धर्मं पापः पापे प्रसज्जति ।
न च पापकृतः पापान्मुच्यन्ते केचिदापदि ॥५॥
5. alabdhvā nipuṇaṁ dharmaṁ pāpaḥ pāpe prasajjati ,
na ca pāpakṛtaḥ pāpānmucyante kecidāpadi.

5. One who fails to grasp the true nature of righteousness (dharma) becomes steeped in sin. And even in times of calamity, those who commit evil are not released from their wrongdoings.
