महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-113, verse-5

तपसस्तस्य चान्ते वै प्रीतिमानभवत्प्रभुः ।
वरेण छन्दयामास ततश्चैनं पितामहः ॥५॥
5. tapasastasya cānte vai prītimānabhavatprabhuḥ ,
vareṇa chandayāmāsa tataścainaṁ pitāmahaḥ.

5. At the end of his penance (tapas), Lord Brahmā (pitāmaha) became pleased, and then blessed him with a boon.
