महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-113, verse-14

यावदूर्ध्वमधश्चैव ग्रीवां संक्षिपते पशुः ।
तावत्तेन सदारेण जम्बुकेन स भक्षितः ॥१४॥
14. yāvadūrdhvamadhaścaiva grīvāṁ saṁkṣipate paśuḥ ,
tāvattena sadāreṇa jambukena sa bhakṣitaḥ.
14. yāvat ūrdhvam adhaḥ ca eva grīvām saṃkṣipate
paśuḥ tāvat tena sadāreṇa jambukena saḥ bhakṣitaḥ

tāvat saḥ tena sadāreṇa jambukena bhakṣitaḥ
14. While the animal was shrinking its neck, both upwards and downwards, by that time, he was eaten by that jackal, along with the jackal's wife.
