महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-42, verse-9

सूत उवाच ।
एवमुक्त्वा तु स पितॄंश्चचार पृथिवीं मुनिः ।
न च स्म लभते भार्यां वृद्धोऽयमिति शौनक ॥९॥
9. sūta uvāca ,
evamuktvā tu sa pitṝṁścacāra pṛthivīṁ muniḥ ,
na ca sma labhate bhāryāṁ vṛddho'yamiti śaunaka.
9. sūta uvāca evam uktvā tu saḥ pitṝn cacāra pṛthivīm
muniḥ na ca sma labhate bhāryām vṛddhaḥ ayam iti śaunaka
9. Sūta said: Having spoken thus, that sage wandered the earth in accordance with his ancestors' wishes. However, O Śaunaka, he did not find a wife, for people considered him old.
