महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-195, verse-10

कीर्तिरक्षणमातिष्ठ कीर्तिर्हि परमं बलम् ।
नष्टकीर्तेर्मनुष्यस्य जीवितं ह्यफलं स्मृतम् ॥१०॥
10. kīrtirakṣaṇamātiṣṭha kīrtirhi paramaṁ balam ,
naṣṭakīrtermanuṣyasya jīvitaṁ hyaphalaṁ smṛtam.
10. kīrtirakṣaṇam ātiṣṭha kīrtiḥ hi paramam balam
naṣṭakīrteḥ manuṣyasya jīvitam hi aphalam smṛtam
10. Uphold the protection of your reputation, for fame is indeed the supreme strength. The life of a person whose fame is lost is considered to be fruitless.
