वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-6, chapter-9, verse-8

अप्युपायैस्त्रिभिस्तात यो ऽर्थः प्राप्तुं न शक्यते ।
तस्य विक्रमकालांस्तान्युक्तानाहुर्मनीषिणः ॥८॥
8. apyupāyaistribhistāta yo'rthaḥ prāptuṃ na śakyate ,
tasya vikramakālāṃstānyuktānāhurmanīṣiṇaḥ.
8. api upāyaiḥ tribhiḥ tāta yaḥ arthaḥ prāptuṃ na
śakyate tasya vikramakālān tān yuktān āhuḥ manīṣiṇaḥ
8. tāta,
yaḥ arthaḥ api tribhiḥ upāyaiḥ prāptuṃ na śakyate,
tasya tān vikramakālān yuktān manīṣiṇaḥ āhuḥ
8. O dear one, wise persons declare that those times are suitable for courageous action when an objective cannot be achieved even by the three conventional means (upāyāḥ).
