वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-3, chapter-26, verse-16

ततो हतरथात्तस्मादुत्पतन्तं निशाचरम् ।
बिभेद रामस्तं बाणैर्हृदये सो ऽभवज्जडः ॥१६॥
16. tato hatarathāttasmādutpatantaṃ niśācaram ,
bibheda rāmastaṃ bāṇairhṛdaye so'bhavajjaḍaḥ.
16. tataḥ hata-rathāt tasmāt utpatantam niśācaram
bibheda rāmaḥ tam bāṇaiḥ hṛdaye saḥ abhavat jaḍaḥ
16. rāmaḥ tataḥ tasmāt hata-rathāt utpatantam tam
niśācaram bāṇaiḥ hṛdaye bibheda saḥ jaḍaḥ abhavat
16. Then, Rama pierced that night-stalker (niśācara), who was leaping up from his broken chariot, in the heart with arrows. The demon became motionless.
