वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-2, chapter-70, verse-18

तथा हुताशनं हुत्वा जेपुस्तस्य तदर्त्विजः ।
जगुश्च ते यथाशास्त्रं तत्र सामानि सामगाः ॥१८॥
18. tathā hutāśanaṃ hutvā jepustasya tadartvijaḥ ,
jaguśca te yathāśāstraṃ tatra sāmāni sāmagāḥ.

jaguḥ ca te yathāśāstram tatra sāmāni sāmagāḥ

18. Then, having offered oblations into the sacred fire, those priests chanted for him. And there, the Sāman chanters (sāmagāḥ) sang the Sāman chants (sāman) according to the sacred texts.
