न दत्ताहं तदा तेन याचितेन महात्मना ।
देवारिणालिना सुप्तस्ततो मे घातितः पिता ॥११॥

I was not given (in marriage) at that time by that great-souled (mahātman) father, who had been requested. Then, my father, while sleeping, was killed by the demon (devāri) Ali.
