मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-64, verse-11

न दत्ताहं तदा तेन याचितेन महात्मना ।
देवारिणालिना सुप्तस्ततो मे घातितः पिता ॥११॥
11. na dattāhaṃ tadā tena yācitena mahātmanā .
devāriṇālinā suptastato me ghātitaḥ pitā.
11. na dattā aham tadā tena yācitena mahātmanā
devāriṇā alinā suptaḥ tataḥ me ghātitaḥ pitā
11. I was not given (in marriage) at that time by that great-souled (mahātman) father, who had been requested. Then, my father, while sleeping, was killed by the demon (devāri) Ali.
