महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-94, verse-3

तमेवमुक्त्वा शिनिपुंगवस्तदा महामृधे सोऽग्र्यधनुर्धरोऽरिहा ।
किरन्समन्तात्सहसा शरान्बली समापतच्छ्येन इवामिषं यथा ॥३॥
3. tamevamuktvā śinipuṁgavastadā; mahāmṛdhe so'gryadhanurdharo'rihā ,
kiransamantātsahasā śarānbalī; samāpatacchyena ivāmiṣaṁ yathā.

mahāmṛdhe saḥ agryadhanurdharaḥ arihā
| kiran samantāt sahasā śarān
balī samāpatat śyenaḥ iva āmiṣam yathā
3. tam evam uktvā tadā saḥ śinipuṅgavaḥ mahāmṛdhe agryadhanurdharaḥ arihā balī kiran samantāt śarān,
yathā śyenaḥ āmiṣam iva,
sahasā samāpatat.
3. Having spoken thus to him, that chief among the Śinis (Śinipuṅgava), that mighty (balī) foremost archer and slayer of enemies (arihā), then in that great battle (mahāmṛdhe) suddenly showering arrows all around (kiransamantāt), swooped down like a hawk (śyena) on its prey.
