महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-63, verse-13

तस्य तात वधादेव देवदानवमानवाः ।
मधुसूदनमित्याहुरृषयश्च जनार्दनम् ।
वराहश्चैव सिंहश्च त्रिविक्रमगतिः प्रभुः ॥१३॥
13. tasya tāta vadhādeva devadānavamānavāḥ ,
madhusūdanamityāhurṛṣayaśca janārdanam ,
varāhaścaiva siṁhaśca trivikramagatiḥ prabhuḥ.

13. O dear father (tāta), it is from his slaying that gods, demons, and humans called Janārdana 'Madhusūdana'. The sages (ṛṣis) also called him Janārdana. He is indeed the Boar (Varāha), the Lion (Siṃha), the one with three strides (Trivikrama), the Lord (prabhu).
