महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-4, chapter-57, verse-17

प्रावर्तयन्नदीं घोरां शोणितौघतरङ्गिणीम् ।
अस्थिशैवलसंबाधां युगान्ते कालनिर्मिताम् ॥१७॥

17. He caused a dreadful river to flow, its waves being torrents of blood, and its flow obstructed by moss-like bones, resembling one created by Time (Kāla) at the dissolution of an eon (yuga).
