महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-298, verse-16

अव्यक्ताच्च महानात्मा समुत्पद्यति पार्थिव ।
प्रथमं सर्गमित्येतदाहुः प्राधानिकं बुधाः ॥१६॥

16. O King, from the unmanifest (prakṛti) arises the Great Principle (mahat). The wise declare this to be the first creation, which is primordial (prādhānikam).
