महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-239, verse-22

यत्तु संमोहसंयुक्तमव्यक्तविषयं भवेत् ।
अप्रतर्क्यमविज्ञेयं तमस्तदुपधार्यताम् ॥२२॥
22. yattu saṁmohasaṁyuktamavyaktaviṣayaṁ bhavet ,
apratarkyamavijñeyaṁ tamastadupadhāryatām.

22. Whatever, however, is characterized by delusion, relates to the unmanifest, is inconceivable, and unknowable—that should be recognized as the quality of darkness (tamas).
