महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-217, verse-7

विकृतैर्दर्शनैरन्ये समुत्पेतुः सहस्रशः ।
तत्र तत्र विघूर्णन्तः पुनरग्नौ प्रपेदिरे ॥७॥
7. vikṛtairdarśanairanye samutpetuḥ sahasraśaḥ ,
tatra tatra vighūrṇantaḥ punaragnau prapedire.

7. Others, with their disfigured appearances, sprang up in thousands. Reeling here and there, they again fell into the fire.
