महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-217, verse-16

देवा ऊचुः ।
किं न्विमे मानवाः सर्वे दह्यन्ते कृष्णवर्त्मना ।
कच्चिन्न संक्षयः प्राप्तो लोकानाममरेश्वर ॥१६॥
16. devā ūcuḥ ,
kiṁ nvime mānavāḥ sarve dahyante kṛṣṇavartmanā ,
kaccinna saṁkṣayaḥ prāpto lokānāmamareśvara.
16. devāḥ ūcuḥ kim nu ime mānavāḥ sarve dahyante kṛṣṇavartmanā
kaccit na saṃkṣayaḥ prāptaḥ lokānām amareśvara
16. The gods said: 'Why are all these humans being consumed by the fire (kṛṣṇavartman)? Surely, the annihilation of the worlds (loka) has not arrived, has it, O Lord of Immortals?'
