महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-217, verse-20

असंप्राप्तास्तु ता धारास्तेजसा जातवेदसः ।
ख एव समशुष्यन्त न काश्चित्पावकं गताः ॥२०॥
20. asaṁprāptāstu tā dhārāstejasā jātavedasaḥ ,
kha eva samaśuṣyanta na kāścitpāvakaṁ gatāḥ.
20. asaṃprāptāḥ tu tāḥ dhārāḥ tejasā jātavedasaḥ
khaḥ eva samaśuṣyanta na kāścit pāvakam gatāḥ
20. However, those rain torrents, before reaching the ground, dried up completely in the sky itself due to the intense radiance of Agni (Jātavedas); not one of them reached the fire.
