महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-215, verse-7

वसत्यत्र सखा तस्य तक्षकः पन्नगः सदा ।
सगणस्तत्कृते दावं परिरक्षति वज्रभृत् ॥७॥
7. vasatyatra sakhā tasya takṣakaḥ pannagaḥ sadā ,
sagaṇastatkṛte dāvaṁ parirakṣati vajrabhṛt.
7. vasati atra sakhā tasya takṣakaḥ pannagaḥ sadā
sagaṇaḥ tatkṛte dāvam parirakṣati vajrabhṛt
7. Here lives his friend, the serpent Takṣaka, always with his retinue. For Takṣaka's sake, Indra protects this forest.
