महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-104, verse-19

उत्कृत्य विमनाः स्वाङ्गात्कवचं रुधिरस्रवम् ।
कर्णस्तु कुण्डले छित्त्वा प्रायच्छत्स कृताञ्जलिः ॥१९॥
19. utkṛtya vimanāḥ svāṅgātkavacaṁ rudhirasravam ,
karṇastu kuṇḍale chittvā prāyacchatsa kṛtāñjaliḥ.

karṇaḥ tu kuṇḍale chittvā prāyacchat saḥ kṛtāñjaliḥ
19. But Karna, disheartened, having cut out his armor, which was dripping with blood, from his own body, and having cut off his two earrings, he reverently (kṛtāñjaliḥ) handed them over.
