कथं भाति कथं कुड्यं विना दीपः प्रकाशते ॥ १८ ॥

The King said: 'O Venerable One (Bhagavan), how does this body (deha), which is merely a conceptualization of pure consciousness (cinmātra), appear at the beginning of creation (sarga)? How can a lamp (dīpa) illuminate without a wall (kuḍya) to reflect its light?'
