वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-49, verse-14

ऋषेस्तु वचनं श्रुत्वा मामाह पुरुषर्षभः ।
सूत न क्व चिदेवं ते वक्तव्यं जनसंनिधौ ॥१४॥
14. ṛṣestu vacanaṃ śrutvā māmāha puruṣarṣabhaḥ ,
sūta na kva cidevaṃ te vaktavyaṃ janasaṃnidhau.
14. ṛṣeḥ tu vacanam śrutvā mām āha puruṣa-ṛṣabhaḥ
sūta na kva cit evam te vaktavyam jana-saṃnidhau
14. ṛṣeḥ tu vacanam śrutvā puruṣa-ṛṣabhaḥ mām āha
sūta te evam na kva cit vaktavyam jana-saṃnidhau
14. Having heard the words of the sage (ṛṣi), the best among men (puruṣa-ṛṣabha) said to me, 'O charioteer (sūta), this should never be spoken by you in the presence of people.'
