वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-6, chapter-112, verse-2

सो ऽपृच्छदभिवाद्यैनं भरद्वाजं तपोधनम् ।
शृणोषि क चिद्भगवन् सुभिक्षानामयं पुरे ।
कच्चिच्च युक्तो भरतो जीवन्त्यपि च मातरः ॥२॥
2. so'pṛcchadabhivādyainaṃ bharadvājaṃ tapodhanam ,
śṛṇoṣi ka cidbhagavan subhikṣānāmayaṃ pure ,
kaccicca yukto bharato jīvantyapi ca mātaraḥ.

2. Having respectfully greeted Bharadvaja, whose wealth was his ascetic practice (tapas), he (Rama) asked him: "O revered one (bhagavan), do you hear good tidings of plenty and well-being in the city? And I hope Bharata is governing justly, and that the mothers are still alive?"
