महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-64, verse-3

यज्ञानां चैव यज्ञं त्वां तपश्च तपसामपि ।
देवानामपि देवं च त्वामाह भगवान्भृगुः ।
पुराणे भैरवं रूपं विष्णो भूतपतेति वै ॥३॥
3. yajñānāṁ caiva yajñaṁ tvāṁ tapaśca tapasāmapi ,
devānāmapi devaṁ ca tvāmāha bhagavānbhṛguḥ ,
purāṇe bhairavaṁ rūpaṁ viṣṇo bhūtapateti vai.

3. The venerable Bhrigu declared You to be the very essence of Vedic ritual (yajña) among all Vedic rituals, the austerity (tapas) among all austerities, and indeed the God among all gods. Furthermore, in the Purāṇas, You are proclaimed as the terrifying form, "O Viṣṇu, Lord of beings (bhūtapati)!"
