मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
न तात हृष्यामि न च स्मयामि प्रहर्षजो मां भजते न दर्पः ।
तवापदं त्वद्य समीक्ष्य रामं सत्यव्रतं दाशरथिं स्मरामि ॥७॥

7. mārkaṇḍeya uvāca ,
na tāta hṛṣyāmi na ca smayāmi; praharṣajo māṁ bhajate na darpaḥ ,
tavāpadaṁ tvadya samīkṣya rāmaṁ; satyavrataṁ dāśarathiṁ smarāmi.

7. mārkaṇḍeyaḥ uvāca na tāta hṛṣyāmi na
ca smayāmi praharṣajaḥ mām bhajate
na darpaḥ tava āpadam tu adya samīkṣya
rāmam satyavratam dāśarathim smarāmi

7. Mārkaṇḍeya said: "No, dear one, I am neither joyful nor proud. Arrogance born of excessive delight does not seize me. Upon seeing your distress today, I am reminded of Rāma, the son of Daśaratha, who is truthful in his vows."
