महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-124, verse-19

ततः कृत्या समभवदृषेस्तस्य तपोबलात् ।
मदो नाम महावीर्यो बृहत्कायो महासुरः ।
शरीरं यस्य निर्देष्टुमशक्यं तु सुरासुरैः ॥१९॥
19. tataḥ kṛtyā samabhavadṛṣestasya tapobalāt ,
mado nāma mahāvīryo bṛhatkāyo mahāsuraḥ ,
śarīraṁ yasya nirdeṣṭumaśakyaṁ tu surāsuraiḥ.
19. tataḥ kṛtyā samabhavat ṛṣeḥ tasya
tapobalāt madaḥ nāma mahāvīryaḥ
bṛhatkāyaḥ mahāsuraḥ śarīram yasya
nirdeṣṭum aśakyam tu surāsuraiḥ
19. Then, from that sage (Chyavana), by the power of his asceticism (tapas), a Kṛtyā (a magical being) named Mada (Intoxication) was born. He was an immensely powerful, great demon with a colossal body, whose form was indeed impossible for even gods and demons to describe.
