महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-2, chapter-6, verse-3

राजभिर्यद्यथा कार्यं पुरा तत्तन्न संशयः ।
यथान्यायोपनीतार्थं कृतं हेतुमदर्थवत् ॥३॥
3. rājabhiryadyathā kāryaṁ purā tattanna saṁśayaḥ ,
yathānyāyopanītārthaṁ kṛtaṁ hetumadarthavat.

3. Whatever had to be done by kings in the past, there is no doubt that it was indeed done. It was performed with its purpose established according to justice, and it was both reasonable and meaningful.
