महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-279, verse-11

नाबीजाज्जायते किंचिन्नाकृत्वा सुखमेधते ।
सुकृती विन्दति सुखं प्राप्य देहक्षयं नरः ॥११॥
11. nābījājjāyate kiṁcinnākṛtvā sukhamedhate ,
sukṛtī vindati sukhaṁ prāpya dehakṣayaṁ naraḥ.
11. na abījāt jāyate kiṃcit na akṛtvā sukham edhate
sukṛtī vindati sukham prāpya dehakṣayam naraḥ
11. abījāt kiṃcit na jāyate.

11. Nothing arises without a cause or seed. One does not achieve happiness or prosperity without acting. A virtuous person (sukṛtī) finds happiness after the decay (kṣaya) of the body, that is, after death.
