The Vedas declare that action (karma) is essentially characterized by qualities (guṇas). Therefore, actions (karma) are indeed rooted in sacred chants (mantra). The injunction (vidhi) is that which should be performed (vidheya) with proper mental application (upapatti); and the experiencer of the result is indeed the embodied being, just as [it enjoys the fruit of its actions].
