महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-178, verse-1

वैशंपायन उवाच ।
तेऽलंकृताः कुण्डलिनो युवानः परस्परं स्पर्धमानाः समेताः ।
अस्त्रं बलं चात्मनि मन्यमानाः सर्वे समुत्पेतुरहंकृतेन ॥१॥
1. vaiśaṁpāyana uvāca ,
te'laṁkṛtāḥ kuṇḍalino yuvānaḥ; parasparaṁ spardhamānāḥ sametāḥ ,
astraṁ balaṁ cātmani manyamānāḥ; sarve samutpeturahaṁkṛtena.

1. Vaiśaṃpāyana said: They, adorned and wearing earrings, young men who had gathered and were competing with each other, all arose with ego (ahaṅkāra), confident in their weapons and their own strength (ātman).
