योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-6, chapter-76, verse-13

भगीरथेन च महीमवतारयितुं दिवः ।
गङ्गां गृहीतो नियमस्ततःप्रभृति भूभृता ॥ १३ ॥
bhagīrathena ca mahīmavatārayituṃ divaḥ ,
gaṅgāṃ gṛhīto niyamastataḥprabhṛti bhūbhṛtā 13
13. bhagīrathena ca mahīm avatārayitum divaḥ
gaṅgām gṛhītaḥ niyamaḥ tataḥprabhṛti bhūbhṛtā
13. ca bhagīrathena bhūbhṛtā tataḥprabhṛti gaṅgām
divaḥ mahīm avatārayitum niyamaḥ gṛhītaḥ
13. And by Bhagīratha, from that time onwards, a vow (niyama) was undertaken by the king to bring the Gaṅgā down from heaven to the earth.
