तदा किल स्वर्गनदी वहति स्म न भूतले ।
पितॄणां भूतविख्योऽभूत्तेन गङ्गाजलाञ्जलिः ॥ १२ ॥

12. Indeed, at that time, the celestial river (Gaṅgā) did not flow on earth. Through that (event), the offering of Gaṅgā water for the ancestors (pitṛ) became widely renowned.
