वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-4, chapter-56, verse-8

लक्ष्मणेन सह भ्रात्रा वैदेह्या चापि भार्यया ।
पितुर्निदेशनिरतो धर्म्यं पन्थानमाश्रितः ।
तस्य भार्या जनस्थानाद् रावणेन हृता बलात् ॥८॥
8. lakṣmaṇena saha bhrātrā vaidehyā cāpi bhāryayā ,
piturnideśanirato dharmyaṃ panthānamāśritaḥ ,
tasya bhāryā janasthānād rāvaṇena hṛtā balāt.

8. With his brother Lakshmana and also with his wife Vaidehi, (Rama), devoted to his father's command, followed the path of natural law (dharma). His wife was forcibly abducted by Ravana from Janasthana.
