वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-4, chapter-56, verse-1

शोकाद्भ्रष्टस्वरमपि श्रुत्वा ते हरियूथपाः ।
श्रद्दधुर्नैव तद्वाक्यं कर्मणा तस्य शङ्किताः ॥१॥
1. śokādbhraṣṭasvaramapi śrutvā te hariyūthapāḥ ,
śraddadhurnaiva tadvākyaṃ karmaṇā tasya śaṅkitāḥ.

1. Even though they heard his voice, broken by grief, those monkey chiefs did not at all believe his words, being suspicious due to his past actions.
