वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-4, chapter-56, verse-11

एवं गृध्रो हतस्तेन रावणेन बहीयसा ।
संस्कृतश्चापि रामेण गतश्च गतिमुत्तमाम् ॥११॥
11. evaṃ gṛdhro hatastena rāvaṇena bahīyasā ,
saṃskṛtaścāpi rāmeṇa gataśca gatimuttamām.
11. evam gṛdhraḥ hataḥ tena rāvaṇena bahīyasā
saṃskṛtaḥ ca api rāmeṇa gataḥ ca gatim uttamām
11. evam gṛdhraḥ tena bahīyasā rāvaṇena hataḥ ca
rāmeṇa saṃskṛtaḥ ca uttamām gatim gataḥ api
11. In this way, the vulture (Jaṭāyu) was killed by that very powerful Rāvaṇa. And he was also consecrated by Rāma, thereby attaining a supreme state.
