वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-1, chapter-24, verse-17

श्रूयते हि पुरा शक्रो विरोचनसुतां नृप ।
पृथिवीं हन्तुमिच्छन्तीं मन्थरामभ्यसूदयत् ॥१७॥
17. śrūyate hi purā śakro virocanasutāṃ nṛpa ,
pṛthivīṃ hantumicchantīṃ mantharāmabhyasūdayat.

pṛthivīm hantum icchantīm mantharām abhyasūdayat
17. nṛpa,
hi purā [evam] śrūyate [yat] śakraḥ pṛthivīm hantum icchantīm virocanasutām mantharām abhyasūdayat.
17. Indeed, O King, it is heard that in ancient times, Indra slew Manthara, the daughter of Virocana, who desired to destroy the earth.
