बृहत्-पाराशर-होरा-शास्त्रम्       bṛhat-pārāśara-horā-śāstram - chapter-78, verse-8

मासो दृकाणपूर्वार्धेर्पूर्वोऽन्यस्तु परार्धके ।
अनुपातात् तिथिर्ज्ञेया भास्करांशसमा द्विज ॥८॥
8. māso dṛkāṇapūrvārdherpūrvo'nyastu parārdhake .
anupātāt tithirjñeyā bhāskarāṃśasamā dvija.
8. māsaḥ dṛkāṇapūrvārdheḥ pūrvaḥ anyaḥ tu parārdhake
anupātāt tithiḥ jñeyā bhāskarāṃśasamā dvija
8. O twice-born one (dvija), the month is designated as the former (part) when it is in the first half of a drekkana, and as the other (part) when it is in the latter half. The lunar day (tithi) should be determined proportionally, corresponding to the Sun's divisional portion.
