महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-173, verse-11

ततस्तत्र महानासीद्ब्राह्मणः संशितव्रतः ।
शैखावत्यस्तपोवृद्धः शास्त्रे चारण्यके गुरुः ॥११॥
11. tatastatra mahānāsīdbrāhmaṇaḥ saṁśitavrataḥ ,
śaikhāvatyastapovṛddhaḥ śāstre cāraṇyake guruḥ.

11. Then, there was a great Brahmin named Shaikhāvatya. He was steadfast in his vows, advanced in asceticism (tapas), and an expert (guru) in the scriptures and the Āraṇyakas.
