महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-14, verse-14

असांनिध्यं तु कौरव्य ममानर्तेष्वभूत्तदा ।
येनेदं व्यसनं प्राप्ता भवन्तो द्यूतकारितम् ॥१४॥
14. asāṁnidhyaṁ tu kauravya mamānarteṣvabhūttadā ,
yenedaṁ vyasanaṁ prāptā bhavanto dyūtakāritam.
14. asāṃnidhyam tu kauravya mama ānarteṣu abhūt tadā
yena idam vyasanam prāptāḥ bhavantaḥ dyūtakāritam
14. But, O Kaurava, at that time I was absent in the Ānarta country, and because of this, you all have incurred this calamity (vyasana) brought about by gambling.
