महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-101, verse-14

देवा ऊचुः ।
नहुषेणाभितप्तानां त्वं लोकानां गतिः पुरा ।
भ्रंशितश्च सुरैश्वर्याल्लोकार्थं लोककण्टकः ॥१४॥
14. devā ūcuḥ ,
nahuṣeṇābhitaptānāṁ tvaṁ lokānāṁ gatiḥ purā ,
bhraṁśitaśca suraiśvaryāllokārthaṁ lokakaṇṭakaḥ.
14. devā ūcuḥ nahuṣeṇa abhitaptānām tvam lokānām gatiḥ
purā bhraṃśitaḥ ca suraiśvaryāt lokārtham lokakaṇṭakaḥ
14. The gods said: "You (Agastya) were formerly the refuge for the worlds that were afflicted by Nahuṣa. And that menace of the world (Nahuṣa) was dethroned from his divine sovereignty for the sake of the worlds."
