महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-2, chapter-26, verse-9

स तं निर्जित्य कौन्तेयो नातितीव्रेण कर्मणा ।
पूर्वदेशं महावीर्यो विजिग्ये कुरुनन्दनः ॥९॥
9. sa taṁ nirjitya kaunteyo nātitīvreṇa karmaṇā ,
pūrvadeśaṁ mahāvīryo vijigye kurunandanaḥ.
9. saḥ tam nirjitya kaunteyaḥ na atitīvreṇa karmaṇā
pūrvadeśam mahāvīryaḥ vijigye kurunandanaḥ
9. Having conquered him, the son of Kunti (kaunteya), the delight of the Kurus (kurunandana), a man of great prowess, conquered the eastern region without excessively fierce action (karma).
