महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-66, verse-15

अन्नमेव मनुष्याणां प्राणानाहुर्मनीषिणः ।
तच्च सर्वं नरव्याघ्र पानीयात्संप्रवर्तते ॥१५॥
15. annameva manuṣyāṇāṁ prāṇānāhurmanīṣiṇaḥ ,
tacca sarvaṁ naravyāghra pānīyātsaṁpravartate.
15. annam eva manuṣyāṇām prāṇān āhuḥ manīṣiṇaḥ tat
ca sarvam naravyāghra pānīyāt sampravartate
15. manīṣiṇaḥ manuṣyāṇām annam eva prāṇān āhuḥ
naravyāghra tat sarvam ca pānīyāt sampravartate
15. Indeed, the wise declare food alone to be the vital energies (prāṇa) of humans. And all of that (food), O tiger among men, originates from water.
