भीष्म उवाच ।
दममेव प्रशंसन्ति वृद्धाः श्रुतिसमाधयः ।

2. Bhishma said: 'Indeed, the elders and those whose minds are absorbed in scriptural knowledge praise self-control (dama). They consider it especially important for the Brāhmaṇa, among all social classes (varṇa).'
