महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-19, verse-4

सत्त्वैश्च बहुसाहस्रैर्नानारूपैः समावृतम् ।
उग्रैर्नित्यमनाधृष्यं कूर्मग्राहसमाकुलम् ॥४॥
4. sattvaiśca bahusāhasrairnānārūpaiḥ samāvṛtam ,
ugrairnityamanādhṛṣyaṁ kūrmagrāhasamākulam.
4. sattvaiḥ ca bahusāhasraiḥ nānārūpaiḥ samāvṛtam
ugraiḥ nityam anādhṛṣyam kūrmagrāhasamākulam
4. And it was completely enveloped by many thousands of creatures of diverse forms, (some of them) fierce, making it perpetually unassailable, and agitated with tortoises and alligators.
